Dubai Healthcare City and DuBiotech To Support Abu Dhabi Medical Congress 2010
(13 October 2010)

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) and Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech), both members of TECOM Investments, today announced their support for the fourth edition of the Abu Dhabi Medical Congress that will focus on the challenges being faced by the primary healthcare sector in the region.

Organised by IIR Middle East from 17-19 October at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, the Abu Dhabi Medical Congress 2010 will bring together leading international healthcare companies to showcase the latest products and services within the Emergency, Primary Healthcare, Patient Safety, Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine sectors. It will also serve as a platform for scientific exchange through a comprehensive conference programme.

Dr. Ayesha Abdullah, Managing Director of TECOM Investments Sciences Cluster that includes DHCC and DuBiotech, said: “Over the past five years, the UAE has registered substantial growth in the health and life sciences sectors. At DHCC alone, we currently have over 2,000 licensed healthcare professionals and 90 facilities providing a wide range of health and health-related services. At the same time, DuBiotech hosts more than 70 national and international companies from the life sciences sector.

“International interest from these sectors in the region remains high as reflected by the number and status of companies we continue to welcome. The interest is also reflected on the size of this edition of Abu Dhabi Medical Congress, which we are delighted to be supporting. DHCC and DuBiotech will be exhibiting in the Patient Safety Area of the exhibition, one of the largest areas of the Congress.”

Simon Page, Group Director of IIR Middle East, said: “Now in its fourth year, the Abu Dhabi Medical Congress occupies 5,000 square metres and aims to create the best global gathering in the Middle East for its chosen sectors of the world’s healthcare industry, facilitating a broad spectrum of business opportunities for those engaged within these industry sectors. As major players in the region, we are delighted to have the support of Dubai Healthcare City and DuBiotech for the Congress, which is the fastest growing event of its kind.”

Running alongside the exhibition, the Abu Dhabi Medical Congress 2010 will feature one of the region’s largest CME-accredited conference programmes, which have already elicited the interest of more than 1,700 delegates, who are keen to hear from over 250 regional and international speakers.

The Abu Dhabi Medical Congress 2010 is sponsored by Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education and the conference activities have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM.

Within the past seven years, DHCC has grown into a cluster of over 90 outpatient medical centres and diagnostic laboratories as well as more than 100 commercial healthcare and retail services. Two of its hospitals are currently JCI accredited.
